I started learning basic phrases in other languages when we started traveling. My favorite is Spanish by a long shot. It also happens to be the language that is usually spoken wherever we travel.
That being said, learning a new language is always easier said than done. Especially when you don’t live in an area where that language isn’t spoken. You need to practice, and not having anyone to practice with is difficult. Therefore, it is important to be able to immerse yourself in the target language. I have taken up listening to podcasts on my nights rocking my baby and breastfeeding.

Here are 4 great podcasts to listen to to learn Spanish.
1. News in Slow Spanish
The title pretty much says it all. It goes through current events, but it is slowed down at a pace for newer ones to understand. This allows you to hear spoken words, but is slow enough to understand what is being said too.
2. Coffee Break Spanish
This podcast is full of interviews in Spanish, so you can listen to conversations going back and forth between people.
3. Spanish for Travel and Beginners
For anyone like us, who travels every year, this podcast is great for picking up vocabulary to use with locals, and to help you get around.
4. Learn to Speak Spanish with Discover Spanish
This great little podcast gives you phrases in English, then Spanish, and then gives you time to repeat as practice. It then has a great review at the end.
Learning a new language can be so enriching and bring so much satisfaction! But it takes time, effort, and dedication. These are just some things you can listen to on the go, in the car, or even while doing things around the house. Immersing yourself really forces you to pick it up. Bonus points if you have others in your family trying to learn too!
